　公民でも、竹島と尖閣諸島について現行教科書が８社のうち３社しか取り上げていないのに対し、今回は７社中６社が取り上げた。このうち教育出版は歴史でも取り上げた。

　いずれも「竹島（島根県）」「尖閣諸島（沖縄県）」などと日本領であることが分かるように表記したが、「わが国固有の領土」などと、はっきり強調しているのは自由社と育鵬社、清水書院の教科書のみだった。
