通常、映画で雨は絶対に「たまたま」降らない。映画で雨は心情表現として用いられるので、主人公が打ちのめされたり、泣きたい気分だったり、ストー
リー上ものごとがどんづまりでどうしようもなくなったときに、象徴として降ることになっている。逆に言えば、雨が降っている場面はそれだけで人物
の心情表現になり得るので、「雨が降っている」のに、加えて主人公がその中で泣く必要はなかったりする。最近の日本映画で、
雨が降っている中で人物が号泣し
て、おまけに科白で「オレは悲し
い！」というものがあったが、そんなにメガマックみたいに積み重ねる必要はまったくないし、逆にそこまで積んであると「もしかして、この映画を作った人は
全然映画の表現の意味がわかっていないのでは…」と不安にかられ、いや、確信す
るのである。
